INCREASE IN FRENCH TAX
MOST CUSTOMS DUTIES BIGGER. MERCANTILE MARINE SUBSIDY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, Aug. 14. A 4 per cent, increase in the majority of French Customs duties, has been introduced for the purpose of raising approximately £2,000,000 to subsidise mercantile marine-wages. The new duties will be enforced on August 16.
