BIBLE IN SCHOOLS BILL

VIEWS OF EDUCATION BOARDS. SOME INSTRUCTION FAVOURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 15. The Wellington Education Board today decided against a request from the Educational Institute asking the board’s support in its opposition against the Religious Instruction Bill. The Auckland Education Board to-day considered a request by the Educational Institute for suport in its opposition to the Religious Instruction Bill now before Parliament, reports the Press Association from Auckland. The chairman said that 25,817 children in the board’s district received some religious instruction under the Nelson scheme and the number was growing steadily. A total of 2548 children had been exempted at the request of parents. After a debate the board rejected a motion declining to support the institute and adopted an amendment favouring the development of the Nelson system in preference to the system proposed in the Bill.
