EDUCATION BOARD SEATS
ELECTION IN ONLY ONE WARD. CONTEST NEEDED IN NORTH WARD. When nominations for election to the Taranaki Education Board closed yesterday afternoon, it was found that the candidates for the south and central wards and the urban area of New Plymouth would be returned unopposed. In each division only one nomination was received. Dr. W. M. Thomson, Hawera, will represent the south ward, Mr. James McAllister, Stratford, the central ward, and Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., the urban area of New Plymouth. For the north ward seat two nominations were received, Mr. T. J. Griffin, New Plymouth, and Mr. F. A. J. Lee, Frankleigh Road. Votes to determine whic’ of ther. candidates shall represent the ward must be at the office of the board before 5 o’clock on the afternoon of July 18.
