MONTEREY’S NON-UNIONISTS
ADVICE RECEIVED IN DOMINION. WATERSIDERS DISCUSS ACTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, June 6. Advice has been received by Mr. Walsh, president of the New Zealand Seamen’s Union, that the Matson liner Monterey, which left Los Angeles on May 31 with 5000 tons of cargo for discharge at Auckland and Sydney, was loaded by nonunion labour under police supervision. He says that according to his information the officers and crew refused to take the ship to sea and she is manned by a non-union crew. The Monterey is due at Auckland on June 15 and the matter is being discussed by industrial unionists.
