UPPER MANGOREI NEWS

SCHOOL SPORTS COMPETITIONS. Upper Mangorei School children played the first of the competition football and basketball matches on Thursday afternoon with the Welbourn School teams: on the Welboum grounds. Welbourn football team won by 24 to 0, while Upper Mangorei basketball wdnby .12 to 8. Welboum ladies provided afternoon tea. The weekly practices of the Upper Mangorei Basketball Club have begun at the school grounds. Last Tuesday there was a good muster of senior girls and Miss Papps refereed an exciting game. Personal Items. Mrs. J. Reid and Miss J. Reid, Putaruru, are visiting friends at Upper Mangorei. Mr. and Mrs. Nicolls, Napier, are staying with Mr. and Mrs. A. Busing. Mrs. J. .W. Elley, Papakura, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. Johnston.
