SHIP’S STEWARD SENTENCED

THEFTS FROM JACOB RUPPERT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, May 23. Arthur Burton Creagh, aged 54, a steward on the Jacob Ruppert, the Byrd expedition ship, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for the theft of an eiderdown quilt from the vessel, A similar charge against Lawrence Henry Kennedy, aged 40, sailmaker on the Bear of Oakland, was dismissed. The police stated that there had been extensive thieving from the expedition’s vessels.
