POPPY DAY APPEAL FUND
NORTH TARANAKI IRESULT FINAL RETURNS SHOW TOTAL £568. OVER £5O MORE THAN LAST YEAR. Final returns for the annual Poppy Day appeal for North Taranaki held on April 20 show the total of £568, compared with £5lO 13s lid last year, pie result, which includes money . raised throughout the hospital district, is considered highly satisfactory in view of the present economic uncertainty and a compliment to the efficiency of the organisation directed by Mrs. R. H. Quilliam. As in other years, the fund will be used to provide work for ex-servicemen, the administration being done by the Returned Soldiers’ Association without cost. The returns, which have been prepared by Mr. A. S. Hunter, show that in addition to £385 16s 3d banked after the collection at New Plymouth, the following contributions were received: Mrs. D. Blackley’s shop £5B 14s 5d (last year £4O), New Plymouth Savings Bank £5O, Dr. G. Home £2 2s, New Plymouth Rotary Club £2 2s, Round Table Club £1 Is, Friendly Societies’ Dispensary £1 Is, Public. Hospital £6 Ils, Rotokare branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union £2 2s, New Plymouth Anzac Day service £4 18s, Rahotu £l9 Ils (a splendid response from so small Ji community), Inglewood borough (Mrs. Gibbs) £l5 19s, Waitara borough (Mrs. Bullen) £3O.
