Proposals are now before the Government for the establishment in Rarotopga of a Cook Islands Fruit Control Board to exercise control over the fruit • produced in that group and intended tor export. •For many years past fruit from the Cook Islands has been either sold to representatives qf New Zealand imposing houses or sent to the Dominion on consignment by growers and local traders. The object of the board would be stricter supervision over the cultivation and quality of fruit, grading, handling and shipping and the regulation of the distribution of fruit to New Zealand markets.
