WESTOWN FLOWER SHOW

STRIKING CHRYSANTHEMUMS FUND FOR NEW ANGLICAN CHURCH. HIGH STANDARD OF ENTRIES. The bazaar and autumn flower show organised to assist the building fund of the Westown Anglican Church attracted good entries and an excellent attendance of patrons on Saturday. The stalls were attractively arranged and did good business. The fund should benefit considerably. Stallholders were: Produce, Mesdames J. Lobb and Taylor; cakes, Mesdames Buckley and Seeman; sweets, Mesdames F. Lobb and F. Sole; jumble, Mrs. Anderson and Miss A. Wright; afternoon tea, Mesdames Gredig, ,L. The display of chrysanthemums in botli open and novice sections was of remarkable quality and variety.- Many the champion blooms were indistinguishable in excellence to all but the expert. The decorative types were perhaps not so strongly represented as the distinct varieties, and, owing to the lateness of the season, entries in other flower classes fell rather short of the standard set in chrysanthemums. The children’s sections in cookery and handwork were strong and contained' some excellent work. The results are:— CHRYSANTHEMUMS. Open section: Twelve distinct varieties:, A.-S.
