CYCLIST’S REMARKABLE ESCAPE. i —. ■— STRUCK BY HIT AND RUN MOTORIST By Telegraph— Press Association. Christchurch, April 26. A report to the police states that J. Reid, a cyclist, of Riccarton, had a narrow escape on Tuesday evening when he was struck near Sockburn by « “hit and run” motorist, estimated to have been travelling at 50 miles an hour. Reid was tossed clean over the top of the car and left lying at the side of the road. He was subsequently taken to hospital and treated for slight injuries to the legs and then discharged. He had a remarkable escape. The cycle must have been carried in front of the car, as it was later discovered at Templeton, three miles away. Investigations are proceeding.
