PIGEON RACING RESULTS
EGMONT HOMING CLUB A team race was flown under the auspices of the Egmont Homing Club last Saturday from Palmerston North, a distance of 125 miles. The conditions in a race of this nature are that each member is to nominate three birds for the event, and the three race rings must be inserted in the clock before timing commences. Twenty-one birds, representing seven lofts, were liberated by the stationmaster at 10 a.m. He reported very stormy weather with strong northerly wind, consequently slow times were recorded, but in the circumstances it was all that could be expected, the birds doing well to home on the day of liberation. The results were: B. Sole, sh. 2m. Os 1 Leighton Bros., sh. 3m. 50s 2 J. James, sh. 16m. 10s 3 These were the only clocks brought in. An interval race, was also flown from Palmerston on Sunday, seven members competing, but the. weather again proved its worst this season for flying, as it rained heavily all day.. No buds homed on the day of liberation so the race was called off.
