TUG-OF-WAR COMPETITION

RAHOTU WINS AT OPUNAKE. FINAL NIGHT’S RESULTS. The final pulls of the Opunak* tug-of-war were completed on Wednesday night. In the semi-finals Normanby eliminated Arawhata and Rahotu eliminated Normanby. Taurangi ' defeated Waiteaka and Rahotu eliminated Taurangi. The final left Waiakuri with two lives and Rahotu one. Rahotu defeated Waiakuri in both pulls. The final pull was as near a. dead heat as is possible. Miss Jean McCullum, the business candidate in the queen carnival, thanked the teams for making the tournament • success and congratulated the winners. Thanks were also, accorded Mr. H. H. Gilshnan for organising the tournament and members of the committee. Mr. Farquhar, captain of the Rahotu team, and the captain of the Waiakuri team returned thanks. There was * large audience.

The Opunake Bowling Club will entertain the Auckland touring team oa Thursday night
