RANFURLY RUGBY SHIELD
NOT TO BE TAKEN ON TOUR. DECISION BY CANTERBURY UNION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, April 18. That the Ranfurly Shield will not be taken on tour this season was the decision of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union. The reason was given that the Canterbury representative team would probably be depleted through some of its members being chosen for the All Black tour of Australia. In view of the decision a request from the Marlborough Union for a shield match against Canterbury at Blenheim was declined. Mr. J. H. Harris, a former All Black, was appointed sole Canterbury Rugby selector for the season.
