THIRTEEN-POINTER HEAD

MOOSE SHOT IN SOUTHLAND. ONLY SECOND IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The second moose 13-pointer to be shot in New Zealand, and probably in the Southern Hemisphere was secured a few days ago by Mr. E. J. Herrick, Hastings, who also obtained the first in April, 1929. This second moose, which was shot in the same block at the head of Dusky Sound as the first, was in fair condition and possessed antlers with a spread of 36 inches. The head weighed 801 b., and considerable difficulty was experienced in bringing it through the dense undergrowth. Mr. Herrick was accompanied by Mr. J. Muir, Wanganui, as guide.
