Catherine Carr, aged 18, was found in a lifeboat .when the steamer Sularia arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia. The girl stole on board the ship at Belfast, and was without sustenance for 11 days. She said she was promised work in Toronto and had no. money to pay her passage. She was arrayed in '■ party dress with winter coat and silk stockings. ,*■ ■ * - •. • “I suffered terrible agony from frost and the stiffness caused by my cramped position in the lifeboat,” said. the stowaway, who had to be carried to hospital. Her toes may have to be amputated owing to frostbite. Spray from the cold p North Atlantic gales , frequently came over the lifeboat, and thirst almost drove the girl mad. She is to be deported .when she recovers sufficiently.
