By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland Racing Club’s autumn meeting opened at Ellerslie yesterday in fine weather. The track was fast snd the attendance good. The totalisator handled £35,582, as against £38,887 last year, a decrease of £3305. Thespis ran the Brighton Hurdles in 3m 39 3-ss, a course record. Jonathan broke the race record by running the Easter in Im 37 l-ss. Hushing returned a double-figure dividend when he came home first in the Eden Handicap. Results are:— GREAT NORTHERN OAKS. Of £4OO, One mile and a half. 1— GOLDEN HAIR (H. Wiggins) ..... 1 2— RUST (L. J. Ellis) 2 3— MELISANDE (W. Broughton) ..... 3 The only starters. The field was together most of the distance until Golden Hair took command at the turn to win with plenty in hand from Rust by threequarters of a length, with Melisande half a length away.
