TAXI WRECKED ON POLE

PARTY ON WAY TO HAWERA TROTS BLOW-OUT NEAR WAITOTARA HILL Striking a Concrete pole near Waitotara a Palmerston North taxi bringing six people to the trotting meeting at Hawera was extensively damaged yesterday. The driver, a young man, was seriously injured and admitted to the Wanganui hospital. Mr. C. McKenzie suffered cuts ana returned to Wanganui with the driver. The others came to Hawera, where Mr. H. Garrett received medical attention for a deep gash in his forehead. The accident was the result of the driver going off the bitumen to pass several boy cyclists. A front tyre blew out and the car swung into the pole.
