MINSTREL TROUPE CONCERT

ENTERTAINMENT AT TIKORANGI.

There was a fair attendance at a concert given by the Waitara nigger minstrel troupe at the Tikorangi hall and arranged by the committee of St. Luke’s church, whose funds will benefit as a result. The concert programmes was: Opening chorus, troupe; song, “Good Old Jeff”; string quartette; chorus, “Oh dem Golden Slippers”; troupe, “Down in the Com Fields”; song, “Sunshine of Your Smile,” and “Stay With Me,” Mr. J. Ellis; sofig, “Poor Old Joe,” Mr. Kibby and chorus by troupe; “Carry Me Back to Old Virginny,” troupe; song solo, “The Ministrel Boy,” Master Carrington; song, solo, “Marli Moon,” Mr. Bert Turner; comic song, Mr. J. Maudsley; song, “My Old Kentucky Home,” soloist Mr. J. E. Ellis and chorus by 7 troupe; conjuring and “Straight Jacket Act,” Mr. L. O’Donnell; song, “There’s a Tavern in the ToWn,” troupe; string instruments item; song, solo,. “Little Brown Jug,” Mr. J. Maudsley; songs, “Lily of Laguna,” and ‘Tse Going Back to Dixie”; song, “That’s What God Made Mothers For”; songs, “Dixieland” • and “Goodnight,” troupe. At the conclusion of the programme the Rev. H. Fussell, speaking on behalf of. St. Luke’s Church, thanked the troupe for the concert. Supper, which was in charge of a ladies’ committee, was served, after which dancing was continued to music supplied by members of the troupe. Mr. V. Forecan was master of ceremonies and an extra was played • by Mr. R. Smart. Personal Items. Mr. and Mrs. J. McKenzie, who resided in the Urenui and Tikorangi districts some years ago, have been the guests of Mrs. Fault Miss M. Gablin has returned to Manaia and Miss G. Jury is her guest at Easter. Mr. V. Whitehead is an inmate of the New Plymouth hospital. Miss B. Sarten, of S. Mary’s School, Stratford, is spending the J&ster.vacation
