21ST BIRTHDAY PARTY. On the occasion of the 21st. birthday of ■ Miss Annie Huzziff a social evening was tendered her on Friday last in the schoolroom Norfolk Road, there being an attendance of 150. Visitors were present from many parts of the district, testifying to the popularity of the guest of honour. The decorations, which Were carried out in canopy style in pale pink and green streamers with coloured balloons at intervals,, gave a very pretty effect. They were the work of Miss Huzziff’s girl friends, Misses M.. DombroskL S. Roycroft, C. Dey and N. Walker. Dancing was interspersed with vocal items. Among the items contributed were: Song, “Fairies in the Bottom of My Garden,” Mrs. George; violin solo, with pianoforte accompaniment, “Barcarole” Misses Flo and Valerie Voitrekovsky; song, "Selections,” Mr. Griffins (Waitara); trio, Messrs Carpenter, Carter and O’Carroll. Excellent dance music was played by' Mr. Harold Humphries, while extras were given by Mrs. S. Walker, Miss M. Reeve, Messrs Roycroft and L. Whattinberg. Mr. B. Dombroski was master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. S. Walker and J, Wisnewski. Euchre was ..indulged in by non-dancers, in charge of Mr. S. Walker. 'Dre winners were, ladies, Mrs. H. Gush 1, consolation, Mrs. Keegan. Men, G. Davies'l (after a play-off with'Messrs T. and G. Huzziff), consolation, Mrs. Voitrekovsky (playing as a man). During the evening the guest was the recipient of some very handsome presents. Among them was a shell pink monofil dressing table set and manicure set on a silver stand from the residents of the district. Mr. W. J. Byrne on behalf of those present made , the presentation and congratulated the guest’ on attaining her majority. Mr. S. Walker endorsed Mr. Byrne’s remarks. Mr. T. Huzziff suitably responded and handed his daughter a large silver key (made by Don Walker). A; feature of the evening was the beautiful iced birthday cake with 21 candles (the gift of her sister, Mrs. L. L. Bellringer, New. .Plymouth). The usual ceremony of cutting the cake, received musical honours. Miss Huzziff thanked all present for their kindness to her. Two bouquets were presented during the evening and a wristlet watch from the family. • A sister Miss V. Huzziff, Urenui, was also present. Mr. Byrnes returned thanks on behalf of the organisers to all who had helped to make the function a success especially Mr. Humphries, for playing.- A dainty homemade supper was served by the ladies. Those responsible for the function comprised Mesdames Dombroski, S. Walker, Roycroft, Misses C. Dey, S. Roycroft, M. Dombroski, N. Walker, and Messrs B. Dombroski,- S. Walker- and E. Fischer. Among those present were, Mesdames Byrne (floral georgette), Thomason (apricot crepe de chine), Dombroski (navy blue lace), S. Walker (black rayon), Ward (floral voile), Robertson (black crepe de chine with black and white trimmings), R. Davis (wine-shade inarocain), J. Fabish (black and white rayon), Laurence (black georgette), George Grey (marocain, with red racings), Aubrey floral voile), Porter (brown marocain), Fabish (black crepe de chine), Voitrekovsky (black silk). Misses M. Reeve (floral voile), C. Dey (floral voile), M. Corney (white satin), A. Arnold (red and white fugi), M. Dombroski (white satin and net), M. Thomason (floral voile), D. McCullum, Tariki (lemon satin and net), D.-James, Tariki (white fugi), C. Keegan (pink crepe de chine), A. Huzziff (white crepe de chine), V. Huzziff, Urenui (apricot satin), S.-Roycroft (pink taffetas), S. Byrne (cream fugi), S. Reardon (floral voile),- D. Egaar (floral taffetas),- D'. Aubrey (white silk), B. Dombroski (dimity voile), I. Gishard (pink satin), O. James, Tariki (floral voile), M. Ashton (floral crepe de chine), J. Fischer (pink voile), E. Kaye (floral silk), N. Porter (black satin), N. Gush, Tariki (floral voile), N. Ward (lemon organdi), Lindsay (white fugi), M. Laurence (check frock). The sympathy of members of the Tariki Sports and Pastimes Club was. extended Mr. S. Walker, a member, on the death of his brother. The late Mr. Walker was at one time a resident of Tariki.
