RESULTS OF COMPETITION. THREE PRIZES TO TARANAKI. The results of the essay competition recently conducted by Messrs. John and Co. (N.Z.) Ltd., Croxley House, Wellington, have now come to hand, three prizes fading their way t Taranaki entrants. The essays had t be written on any New Zg&land native bird, its habits, its native haunts and why it should be protected. The competition judges expressed the opinion that the majority of entries were well expressed and showed that the childien had taken a keen interest in our feathered friends. The first prize for boys (a fine standard model bicycle) was awarded to Master 'Robert Hunt, Carrington Road, New Plymouth, and may be seen at Messrs. CorrigaH's, stationers, Devon Street, until Thursday next. Two other prizes for essays highly commended were awarded to Miss Edna Worsop, Huia, and Ronald Bint, Waitara. These prizes have already been posted.*
