NEW PLYMOUTH HARRIERS

ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB HELD. ARRANGEMENTS FOR 1934 SEASON. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Harrier Club was held last night, Mr. C. H. Croker presiding over an attendance of 25. Tribute to the work of the executive, particularly the captain, secretary and •handicapper, was paid by Mr. Croker in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (already published)., Mr. Warner, the secretary, was specially deserving of the club’s appreciation. Mr. A. S. Hunter said a number of club and gymnasium subscriptions were outstanding. Several runners had enjoyed the facilities offered by the club but had not paid for them. That, he said, had broken the good record the club had achieved since its inception. Care would be taken, it was resolved, that such occurrences should not occur in the future.

Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Dr. P.’C. Davie; president, Mr. C.iH. Croker; vice-presidents, Messrs W. N. Stephenson, V. Dalgleish/ E. B. Davies, F. S. Varnham, W. T. Guild, E. J. Hutchinson; honorary vice-presidents, thirteen; auditor, Mr. A. S. Hunter; treasurer, Mr. A- Lander; secretary, Mr. J. E. Warner; club captain, Mr. R. J. Stewart; vice-captain, Mr. H. J. Kingston; official recorder, Mr. M. Radford; handicapper and starter, Mr. A. S. Hunter; timekeepers, Messrs F. Clarke and J. A. Bennett; delegates to centre, Messrs A.' S. Hunter and J. E. Warner; committee, Messrs E. J. Hutchinson, A. F. Warner, H. J. Capon, L. E. Fox, J. Crombie and J. A. Haymer. Seven new active members and one new honorary member were elected. The club will hold its opening run on April 7 from the East End reserve. During the season runs will commence at 2 p.m. and races at 2.30 p.m. In order to encourage harrier running among New Plymouth High School boys, the executive was instructed to evolve a scheme for competition among the boys and to approach Mr. W H. Moyes, the principal, on the matter.
