RECORD IN 200 MILES GRAND PRIX. RESULT OF MELBOURNE EVENT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 11.30 p.m. Melbourne, March 20. There was a thrilling finish to the 200 miles Grand Prix at Phillip Island today. The winner, R. Lea Wright, driving a Singer off the limit (35m.) covered the distance in 3h 12m 9s. W. Thompson, runner-un, off scratch, driving a supercharged *M.G. Magnette, finished only 12 seconds later, his time, 2h 37m 21S, being a record for the course. He also wins the fastest time prize. There - were 20 starters. Several minor accidents occurred.
