FIRE DESTROYS CABARET
SUDDEN BLAZE AT PORIRUA. WHOLE OF CONTENTS LOST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night The Riviera" cabaret at Porirua was destroyed by fire to-day. A fierce southerly gale was blowing when the outbreak was noticed at about 5 a.m. Within an hour the large wooden building and its contents were reduced to a heap of ashes. The insurance does not cover the full value of the building and contents, which were worth over £2OOO. The opinion was expressed that the fire started from a cigarette butt left on a settee in the lounge.
