SHIP SPRINGS A LEAK
TRAWLER SINKS; CREW SAVED.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, aMrch 5.
The 84-ton trawler Unique sank off the south coast last jiight. The crew of seven were rescued by the steamer Bermagui and brought to Sydney. The Unique, which was formerly a tug, was steaming up the coast of Newhaven when it was noticed that the plates were leaking. The water entered so fast that the master, Captain Bell, decided to abandon the vessel. The crew lowered the boats and rowed for Newhaven. They had rowed some miles when they saw the lights of the Bermagui and signalled her.
