ROMANTIC CAREER

NEW ZEALAND RACEHORSE. LATE MR. GOLLAN’S MOIFAA. London, Jan. 29. The romantic career of a New Zealand racehorse, Moifaa, is recalled in connection with the death of Mr. Spencer Gollan, who was killed by a motor-bus in London yesterday. The Daily Mail points out that Mr. Gollan won the Grand National in 1904 with Moifaa, which beat Ambush 11., King Edward’s hot favourite. Moifaa had been shipwrecked cm the way to England from New Zealand and swam ashore. King Edward bought the horse, which ran in the 1905 Grand National, but was beaten. Earl Kitchener rode the old racehorse in King George’s coronation procession.
