PRIME MINISTER’S TOUR
WARM WELCOME IN SOUTHLAND. MANY DEPUTATIONS HEARD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. Continuing his South Island tour, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, accompanied by Mrs. Forbes and their son Mr. Robert Forbes, arrived at Invercargill to-night, having travelled from Alexandra. Stops were made at Roxburgh, Ettrick, Miller’s Flat, Tapanui and Gore, where warm welcomes were given the Prime Minister by large assemblages of residents. In each case the Prime Minister briefly addressed the residents, and in several instances he was farewelled with cheers. Many deputations concerning mining and fruitgrowing were received, Mr. Forbes repeating his promise to the fruitgrowers that those whose crops had been wiped out by frost and who were not in a position to carry on would receive Government assistance in the shape of advances.
