AMERICA LOSING MARKET
PHILIPPINE TEXTILE TRADE.
INROADS OF JAPANESE GOODS.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. New York, Jan. 22. A United Press dispatch from Manila declares that the distributors of American textiles in the Philippines are at the point of conceding the market to Japan. Advanced production costs through the National Recovery Act added to the lapse of the boycott of Japanese goods by the Chinese, who constitute the majority of the retail dealers here, makes sales of American products virtually impossible. The efforts of American textile interests to secure adequate tariff protection legislation have failed and they are now appealing to Washington.
