ST. BARNABAS’ PRIZE-GIVING
OPUNAKE SUNDAY SCHOOL PUPILS.
The annual prize-giving of St. Barnabas’ Sunday school, Opunake, was held on Sunday morning. The following scholars received prizes:—
Seniors: Marjorie Frazer, Ethel Parsons, Zena Sorrenson, Jean Davison, Muriel Humphries, June Humphries, Claudius Connell, Robert Walmsley, Joan Connell, Victor Elgar, June Connell, David Hewson, Mavis Hewson. Intermediate: Doreen Parsons, Nola Gilshnan, Mavis Humphries, Joyce Bishop, Francis Fraser, Eunice Cheffings, Alma Mitchell, Aline* Mitchell, Noeline Baylis, Lena Sharrock, James Croad, Bryce Parkes, Bernard Hill, Jack Hewson.
Junior: Brian Des Forges, Francis Cameron, Charlie Cameron, Patty Parkes, Nolan Sorrenson, Colwyn Fraser, Charlie Ashworth, Moira Hickman, Dennis Julian, Boyd Davison, Lewis Clare, lan Elgar. Primer: Doreen Maindonald, Dawn Peat, Dawn Mitchell, Joan Taylor, Eileen Sharrock, Elaine Julian, June Pickering, Nola Baker, Rona Day, Gordon Cameron, Theo Dodunski, Jocelyn Stephenson. Kindergarten: Will Maindonald, Brian Peat, Betty Farnell, Colin Mourie, Ngaire. Croad, Morris Clare, Dawn Humphries, Norman Lee, Peter "Ward, Ken Davison, Mavis Julian, Dawn Sorrenson, Rex Day, Valma Baker, Nancy Stephenson. After the prize-giving Miss Mourie, who has been organist in the church and a Sunday school teacher for many years, was presented with a pair of crystal cases from the teachers and scholars. Marjorie Fraser made the presentation to Miss Mourie and Mrs. Farnell presented the prizes.
