NAPIER-GISBORNE LINE

ENGINEER SUBMITS REPORTS.

REMAINING COST OVER MILLION.

Gisborne, Dec. 15.

Reporting to. the district railway committee at the request of the Minister of Public Works, Mr. O. G. Thornton, the district engineer, estimates, that the cost of the completion of the East Coast line from Waikokopu to Gisborne would be slightly in excess of £1,000,000. The detailed report covers the amount of the work completed prior to the abandonment of quantities of valuable material now on the route and the cost of completion under present-day conditions.? The report includes plans and statistical matter of value to private capital likely to be interested in completion of the line.
