Miss L. Dill has left to reside in the Auckland district.

Mrs. Townend is in a private hospital, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. G. Anderson is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Richardson. New Plymouth. The Midhirst Tennis Club has been very active in practice in preparation to meet visiting clubs on the opening day next week.

A pleasant afternoon was held at Mrs. W. Running’s home recently. Mrs. Running entertained her guests with competitions, the winners being Mrs. A. Guthrie and Miss Lawn. Those present were Mesdames J. Vickers, L. Vickers, A. Guthrie, Marton (Ratapiko), C. Carroll, V. Carroll, Whittaker, G. Smith, A. Graham, P. Anderson, C. Symonds, A. Hunter, W. Anderson, W. Platt, F. Spencer and Miss Lawn. Mrs. A. Hunter was hostess at an enjoyable afternoon last week. Afternoon tea was served, followed by competitions. The winners were Mesdames L. Vickers and V. Carrol. Those present were Mesdames F. Spencer, V. Carrol, C. Carrol, W. •Running, L. Vickers, W. Anderson, A. Graham, G. Vickers. P. Anderson. G. Smith and Miss WardelL

Mrs. P. Anderson entertained friends at her home early in the week, where an enjoyable afternoon was spent with competitions. The winners were Mesdames W. Platt and A. Hunter.
