NORMANBY TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY REPORT BY FOREMAN. The monthly meeting of the Nonnanby Town Board was held on Tuesday, there being present Messrs. C. J. Preston (chairman), W. J. Taylor, T. Lloyd, P. J. Leydon and G. M. Galloway. - The foreman (Mr. D. Henderson) reported on a considerable amount of work which had been done during .the month and which included widening, filling and lowering of pipes, grading on Ohangai Road, and levelling the footpaths in Stafford Street. Work had also been done on the grounds round the town hall. In response to a request from the board for a report on the district from the Government health inspector, Mr. R. Gooding wrote stating that an inspection had been made of the inner area and of a small part of the outer area. Improvements were necessary at several dwellings, but on the whole Normanby compared favourably with other towns with the same prevailing conditions. A further report was promised at a later date. A letter was received from the Unemployment Board concerning relief workers, during the Christmas holiday season. - \ After the town board meeting the domain and cemetery boards met. The foreman reported on the work carried out at the cemetery which included the cutting and stacking of all long grass. The chairman reported that after these improvements the cemetery was in good order. The board members reported that the domain was in excellent order.
