This arrangement does not apply to his duties as a member of the board and it is expected he will soon be sufficiently recovered to attend meetings as usual. Mr. A. W. The late Sir Drummond Chaplin was bom in 1866. ,He studied, taw, and acted as correspondent. for The Times in Johannesburg in 1897-98 and for the Mo™" ing Post at St. Petersburg in 1899-1900. He was manager at Johanesburg for the Consolidated Goldfields of South Africa Ltd. for 14 years till the outbreak of war. He was a member of the Transvaal Legislative Assembly for three years till 1910, and a member of the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa from 1910 to 1914 and for a further term from 1924 to 1929. From 1914 to 1923 Sir Drummond was Administrator of Southera Rhodesia and of Northern Rhodesia from 1921 till 1923.
