HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING
SINGLETON BEATS CAMPBELL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. A professional heavyweight boxing contest this evening between Alan Campbell (12.5), Timaru, and George Singleton (13.10), Invercargill (formerly of Australia), was won by Singleton on points after a tame exhibition. The referee urged the pair several times to make a fight of it. The decision m favour of Singelton met with a hostile reception. . In preliminary bouts J. Richmond (Otago) beat M. Paulin (Southland) and J. Reidy (Southland) beat W. Francis (Otago).
