NEW PLYMOUTH NAVAL BALL. Everyone in Taranaki is looking forward with interest to the forthcoming visit of H.M.S. Diomede to New Plymouth at the end of this week. The great event in connection with the festivities attached to the visit is the naval ball on Monday. It will form the main item of entertainment for both officers and men of the boat. Realising the importance of the function, a strong committee has taken in hand the arrangements, which are being made on a lavish scale. Both the Agricultural and Coronation halls have been secured and are being decorated in accordance with the high standard set at New Plymouth. Three orchestras have been engaged. The catering arrangements are in the hands of a special committee which is preparing for a huge crowd.*
