STUPENDOUS SUM DEMANDED
JAPANESE GOVERNMENT BUDGET. SEVEN HUNDRED TIMES REVENUE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Kobe, Sept. 4. Including new expenditures, Government departments are demanding three billion yen (about £300,000,000,000) in the next Budget against a total estimated revenue not exceeding thirteen hundred million yen. The army and navy alone are demanding the whole of the revenue. Approximately one-third of the estimates is represented by new expenditure. The Finance Department emphasises the urgent necessity for a national financial policy.
