RUGBY TEAM EXPERIMENT
TARANAKI TO PLAY WANGANUI. REORGANISATION OF FORWARDS. The Taranaki Rugby representative team will play Wanganui in the return match to-day. The first match was on June 3, when Taranaki won at Wanganui by 20 points to 8. Both teams are very different today from those that took the field at Wanganui. The Taranaki team is frankly another experiment. With the Auckland game only a week away and the opening match of the southern tour in a fortnight the selectors are seeking the best team. There are players in to-day’s team who were not played against Waikato, and their form will be watched closely. Most changes have been made in the forwards, and the pack would appear .to be a good one. Thompson, Bullock-Douglas and Brogden are th- only three Wanganui backs in to-day’s team who played against Taranaki on June 3. The forwards, too, are reorganised and the side is reputed to be a very strong one. The teams are:—
TARANAKI. Full-back: Collins (Clifton). Three-quarters: Edwards (Pa tea), Rutherford (Old Boys), Ross (Star). Five-eighths: K. Fookes (Old Boys) 2nd, G. Sangster (Stratford) Ist. Half: C.
