LINCOLN ROAD NEWS

BASKETBALL RESULTS. The Lincoln Road basketball teams went to Lepperton last Tuesday. In the first match Lepperton B defeated Lincoln B by seven goals to three. The goals for Lepperton were thrown by Miss M. Peam (4) and Miss A. Hall (3). The Lincoln goals were thrown by Miss E. Bennett. Miss H. Bridgeman was referee. In the second match Lincoln A defeated Lepperton. A by five goals to two. The Lincoln goals were thrown by Miss V. Dobson (4) and Miss M. Wheatley, while those for Lepperton were thrown by Miss I. Astwod and Miss L Woisin. Mrs. Bigelow was referee. Mrs. J. Kingston and family spent last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Bennett. Miss E. O’Byrne has returned to Egmont Village.

Cards and Fqncy Dress. There was a very large attendance at the plain and fancy dress dance and euchre party held in the hall on Friday night. Mr. E. Dobson had charge of the euchre and the prizes were won by Mrs. Paul (after a re-play with 1 Mrs. E. Nixon) and Mr. McMahon. Music for the dance was supplied by Harris Bros.’ orchestra. Two extras were played by Mr. E. O’Callaghan and Mr. H. Sanne and Mr. E. O’Callaghan. A duet was given by Mrs. Campbell and Miss I. Winter, while songs were sung by Mr. Casey. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. P. O’Callaghan and Miss E. O’Byme. Mr. R. Young was master of ceremonies.

Those in fancy costumes were Mesdames Pennington (Peasant), Schmidt (Gay Time), Sarten (Gipsy), Campbell (Red Cross Nurse), Morrow (Radio), Misses N. Sarten and M. Kiiofflock (Darby and Joan), J. Rowan (Scotch Lass), H. Bennett (Red and Gold Pierrette), E. Bennett (Haberdashery), J. Baker (Sailor), V. Dobson (Query), M. Winter (Orange and Black Pierrette), R. Mehrtens (Maori), L. Sutton (Sailor), M. Larmer (Eastern Princess), A. Dobson (Lightning), G. Young (Old-fashion-ed Grandmother), M. Nicholls (Beach Girl), V. Knofflock (Black and Red Pierrette), I. Winter (Red Cross Nurse), F. Middlemisg (Folly), A. Burrel (Eastern Princess), M. Knofflock (Eastern Lady), A. Schmidt (Kinky Girl), O. Mehrtens (Black and Gold Pierrette), M. Middlemiss (Japanese), Messrs. C. Hume (Cowboy), R. Bennett (Black and’ Green Pierrot), A. Young (Sailor), L. Peters (Green and Blade Pierrot), N. Bennett (Cowboy), G. Steggles (Charlie Chaplin), T. Weldon (Black and White Pierrot), E. Schmidt (Scout), Keith Schmidt (Puck).

Player Fractures Leg. At the Waitoriki v. Pukerangiora Rugby match the result was a draw, each side gaining six points. The game ended within ten minutes of set time owing to Mr. L. Gilbert receiving a fractured leg. He was taken to the New Plymouth hospital.
