WHISKY AND MILK

NO SOLID FOOD FOR 15 YEARS. A retired agent, Mr. Charles Edward Booth, aged 72, of Heme Hill, England, who died lately, was stated at the inquest at Camberwell to have eaten no solid food for 15 years. The deceased was stated by a nephew to have lived mainly on whisky and milk. He drank three quarts of milk and half a bottle of whisky a day. Dr. Thomas Pearson said that he had attended Mr. Booth for 15 to 20 years. He had been quite unable to take solid food. The coroner: Nevertheless he managed to live to 72. Dr. Pearson agreed that Mr. Booth was a confirmed whisky drinker and that his death was precipitated by alcoholism. He had fatty degeneration of the heart. ' Mr. Moran recorded a verdict of “Death from natural causes.”
