YOUNG PEOPLE’S CLUB
FITZROY METHODIST MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Fitzroy Methodist Young People’s Club was held at New Plymouth on Saturday. An evening of exceptional interest and value was enjoyed by all. The speaker was Miss E. L. Dowling, who gave an illustrated address on music. The speaker gave a brief outline of the life and work of Bach. She then spoke of the value of music in the development of personality. Helpful reference was made to the various musical instruments of which an orchestra is composed. Foui- of the '’members of the club, Misses A. Aburn and J. Fredric, Masters R. Brinsley and J. Aburn, assisted by a visitor, Miss N. Thornton, gave an orchestral demonstration.
Speakers for a parliamentary debate on the questions of married men being sent to unemployed camps and a reduction in the size of the Houses of Parliament were arranged for Saturday.
