H r Bell, Oakura, a member of the New Zealand Jersey Council. • . ' The activities of the club had been curtailed during the past difficult period, stated the president’s report. It was hoped as conditions improved to extend the scope and usefulness of the club in the interests of the Jersey breed. A most successful field day had been held on the farm of Mr. R. S. Scown. The Jersey exhibits at the Hawera show were of a very high standard and the accommodation around the ring had been favourably commented upon. Reference was made to the success of the bull fair. Several members had held sales at which good prices were obtained. The financial position was very sat- , isfactory.. Congratulations were offered Mr. Bell upon retaining his seat on the New Zealand council, and Mr. R. J. Linn, New Plymouth, for the services he had rendered the club and the breed. The Rauru Football Club held its weekly “at home” on Saturday evening, and despite the inclemency of the weather a large number attended. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. J. Davies (ladies) and Mr. T. McLean (men), and the “booby” prizes by Mrs. M. Grove and Mr. M. Lockett respectively. A tie was recorded in the aggregate, between Mrs. J. Davis and Mr. C. Rangi, the prize being diveded. Moana’s Joy Boys again supplied the dance music, Mr. Kerona acting as master of ceremonies. The Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Mr. J. Chayter and partner. A collision occurred between two motor-cars on the Waitotara hill on Saturday night, but no damage of a serious nature was done.
