“USE MORE CHEESE”

SUPPORT FOR CAMPAIGN. Advocating a national “Use Mora Cheese” campaign, Mrs. C. Benton, president of the South Taranaki provincial executive, predicted that by this means the consumption of cheese within New Zealand would soon be trebled. A remit that this campaign should be given every encouragement was carried unanimously by the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union at the annual conference in Wellington. Mrs. Benton spoke on the national advantage of encouraging a use-more-cheese campaign in New Zealand. She suggested that regular competitions in the cooking of cheese dishes of every description should be held for both town and country women, and that greater use should be made of cheese in the making of soups. She urged that the proprietors of restaurants and tea rooms should be encouraged to have cheese dishes on their tables. Much along this like had been achieved in South Taranaki. “For some years,” continued Mrs. Benton, “the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union have developed a use-more-wool campaign that has considerably assisted the sheepfarmers, and the use-more-cheese campaign should prove equally helpful in assisting the dairyfarmers.”
