CENSORSHIP OF BROADCASTS
“ABSURDITY OF PRESENT METHOD” COMPLAINT MADE BY PROFESSOR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Chrisfcfiurch, May 1. The opinion that a censorship of -broadcast addresses in New Zealand by unqualified per Sons was absurd was expressed by Professor J. Shelley at a meetint of,the Imperial Culture Society recently. He said that a university lecturer’s address was cut off, the explanation by the announcer being: “I thought you were sailing too close to the wind.” “And that,” said Professor Shelley, “was'said to a university lecturer by a man whose only qualification -for- speaking-was a clear voice for announcing the price of cabbages.”
