WAR DEBTS TO AMERICA
NEXT PAYMENT SOON DUE THE PROBABLE PROCEDURE UNITED STATES OPINIONS ECONOMIC DISCUSSIONS By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 8.20 p.m. New York, March 27. The conversations between Sir Ronald Lindsay (British Ambassador) and Mr. Cordell Hull (Secretary of State) were continued to-day under circumstances indicating that London has deferred to the wishes of Washington and is now prepared to explore economic questions on the basis of the agenda proposed for a monetary and economic conference, says the Washington correspondent of the New York Times. There was no mention of war debts, but no indication was given that Britain had relinquished hopes of a debt adjustment. It Is understood London is greatly concerned at the steady approach of June 15, when £14,400,000 will be due, and that at the appropriate time Britain will advance a plan embodying the Lausanne agreements and the Balfour Note, both of which would imply a desire for a great reduction if not cancellation of the debts.
