THREAT WITH REVOLVER

KEYS TO SAFE DEMANDED EXPERIENCE OF STOREKEEPER. ■PUERUA INTRUDER OUTWITTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, March 28. Attempted robbery under arms was made at Grant’s store, Puerua, at 3 o’clock yesterday morning. In answer to knocking at the door of his residence Mr. Grant opened it and was confronted by a man who asked for petrol for his car. He was muffled about the face. Mr. Grant proceeded to obtain the petrol when the man produced a revolver and, dazzling him with a powerful torch, demanded the keys to the safe. Mr. Grant knocked the man’s hand aside and dashed into the house for a weapon. The intruder then retired hurriedly by the car. Later it was reported that a car had been removed from a garage at Balclutha during the night and was found undamaged near the railway station.
