Amyril . and the Australian Sun youngster slipped over a couple of furlongs very well. The youngster is a smooth, even mover. Amyril, who is a full sister to. Perception, is coming on well and should be capable of racing prominently on Friday. Merry Way and Glowlight were to have gone seven furlongs together, but the latter’s saddle slipped after a furlong had been covered and Merry Way had to complete her task alone, taking lm. 355. Glowlight was brought back and galloped the seven furlongs in lm. 33 3-55., directly afterwards. She appears a little sore in one of her shoulders but the trouble, is probably only temporary as she worked really well. Lucky Alice, who is building up- into a fine type of mare, hit out very freely over two circuits at a solid half pace. She is in fine order. Royal Bengal, looking solid and muscular, did a similar task. He is to contest the Thompson Handicap at Trentham,. and though the company looks rather rich he may run a good race. Lady Quex after two rounds of easy jogging ran home over the last two furlongs in 25) s. She is not hitting out quite so freely as of yore. Cereal on the trial = grass showed his usual speed by leaving half a' mile behind in 50 4-ss. under a strong pull. Provided he does well at Opunake his owner is contemplating a trip to Ellerslie with him at Easter. The walk-up starts there would suit him.
