TIKORANGI DISTRICT NEWS
SCHOOL ENTERTAINS PARENTS. GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. Two car loads of members of the Tikorangi Women’s Institute went to Durham Road on Wednesday afternoon to attend a garden party held by the Norfolk Institute members at Mrs. W. Brown’s residence. Miss D. Jupp, secretary of the Tikorangi institute, was one of the competition winners. A large number of parents and friends was present at the hall on Thursday afternoon for an entertainment given by the school children. In welcoming the visitors Mr. Metcalf said he did not wish it called a concert as it was really only fin afternoon of drill and singing given by the children for their parents. The drill, which was under the charge of Mrs. Mansfield, was a credit to both the children and their teacher. After the concert afternoon tea was served by the committeemen’s wives. The following programme was submitted: A series of rounds, senior pupils; junior action drill, boys and girls; ‘tnaxina, senior boys and girls; part song, Men of Harlich, senior pupils; eurythmics and Eastern balances, girls; nursery rhymes, tiny tots; drill, boys; three-part song, Hail, Smiling Mom; drill, junior boys and girls; song, The Skylark, Doris Lye; drill, boys; canoe song and drill, senior boys. Mrs. A. C. Keay, Awakino, is the guest of Mrs. Bert Jury. Mesdames Asbaldaston (Dargaville), Brown and Edwards and Miss Brown (Auckland), who are on a motor tour of the North Island, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jury during the week-end.
