TAINUI SPORTS CLUB

THE ANNUAL MEETING HELD. (From Our Own Correspondent) The annual meeting of the Tainui Sports Club was held in the Awakino halt Mr. A. C. Richards presided. Representatives were present from all of the schools in the Tainui district except Whareorina, Mr. Proctor being unable to be present The representatives were: Mokau, Miss Macßae; Mahoenui, Mr. Moss and Miss Warboys; Mangatoi, Mr. S. Cave; Awakino, Mr. Richards and Miss Nisbet; OkauJ Mr. C. Calvert; Ahititi, Miss Fuller; Mt. Messenger, MissCannell. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. W. G. Glasgow; president Mr. A. C. Richards; vice-presidents, eleven elected; joint secretaries and treasurers, Miss Fuller and Mr. C. G. Calvert; committee, Misses McKenzie, Mcßae, Cannell, Warboys, Nisbet Messrs. Moss, Cave, Proctor, . Officials for the sports which are to be held on Mr. H. Cummings property on March 3 are: Starter, Mr. A. C. Richards; judges, Messrs. G. Sole, L. K Jones and H. Collins; timekeeper, Mr. A. Bartlett; call stewards, Messrs. C. Calvert and S. Cave; marshalling stewards, Messrs. Moss and Proctor and Miss McKenzie; record stewards, Misses Fuller, Warboys, Cannell, Nisbet arid Mcßae; tape stewards, Messrs. Cannell and HayWard. The programme will be the same as for last year with the addition of an obstacle race. Cocoa will be provided free for children. The handicapping will be the same as last year. Grade 3 will consist of Mahoenui, Mokau and Awakino, 20 points each; grade 2, Ahititi, minus 10 points; grade 1, Okau, Mt. Messenger, Whareorino, Mangatoi, scratch. Tlie championship banner will be for the most points in champion events, and a Herbert Smith Trust Cup for the total points in all events, a Herbert Smith Trust Cup for boys’ relay race .and a Herbert Smith Trust Cup for a girls’ relay race. Miniature cups in place of medals will be presented to the senior boy and senior girl champion and to the junior boy and junior girl champion. In the previous notes published regarding the Cuthbert Shield it was inadvertently omitted that Mahoenui school gained third place iri the Cuthbert Shield competition. PERSONAL. Mrs. F. G. Northern has returned from Wellington. „ - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith, Paekakariki, who have been staying with Mrs. F. G. Northern, returned on Monday. Mrs. Kelly has returned from New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. F. Carrington have returned to New Plymouth. Miss Robinson has returned to Christchurch. Mrs. E. Marsh is spending a few days at New Plymouth. Mrs. W. L. Smith, Tangarakau, is staying with Mrs. McNeice. Mrs. McAdams has been staying with Miss Harris. Miss Howard, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs. MacMillan.
