WAR DECLARATION LIKELY
PARAGUAY AND BOLIVIA
SENATE SPECIALLY CALLED
SUGGESTION OF BLOCKADE
ACTION BY NEIGHBOURS
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 7 p.m. Ascension, Feb. 18. Semi-official sources on Saturday night said the Paraguayan Senate is to meet in an extraordinary session next week to consider a resolution of formal declaration of war against Bolivia, following eight months’ warfare in the Gran Chaco region. Argentina, Chile, Peru and Brazil are said to be contemplating a blockade of the Bolivian frontier in order to force the cessation of hostilities. The proposed declaration of war is apparently prompted by the belief that an actual state of war would facilitate a blockade.
