COUNTRY COMPETITION
TARURUTANGI WIN AGAIN URENUI TEAM EASILY DEFEATED. NORMAN GIDDY IN GOOD FORM. Tarurutangi defeated Urenui comfortably by six wickets and 59 runs in the Country cricket competition. Urenui batted first, but W. Sheard, who went in first wicket down and carried his bat for 16, was the only one who could make any showing against the bowling of the Tarurutangi quartette, Norm Giddy, L. Bishop, Spence Giddy and Eric Giddy. The innings closed for 45, scored in 34 overs. With the exception of five twos all the. runs were singles. Eric Giddy came oS best with an average of four wickets for 15 runs, but all bowled well. L. Bishop sent down nine overs, six of which were maidens, and took one wicket for four runs. Tarurutangi did not start too well, losing Eric Giddy with the score at 6, but Sid Sampson and L. Bishop 16 each saw the Urenui total passed, the third wicket falling at 52. Spence Giddy, with 19, including two boundaries, assisted Norm Giddy, who made 40 not out, including one six and three boundaries, to raise the total to 105 for four wickets before stumps were drawn.
