NORTH TARANAKI CRICKET

TRANSFERS TO LOWER GRADES.

POSITION OF WAITARA JUNIORS.

The executive of the North Division Of the, Taranaki Cricket Association met at New Plymouth last night, Mr. T. H. Bates presiding. Others present were Messrs P, S. Carroll, F. Ferry, S. Sampson, H. W. Brown, W. Beard, S. O. Jones, H. J. Larkin and H. J. Abram (honorary secretary). The financial position was reviewed and it was considered that if amounts owing in fees were paid by certain clubs the present season would conclude with the division in a better financial position than at the end of the previous season. Permission to transfer from senior A to senior B was granted A. Clarke and J. Medley. The opinion was expressed by some members that such transfers should in ■ future be regarded unfavourably when application is made so late in the season.

On the motion of Mr. Larkin it was decided that the junior teams which had won games by default should be awarded three.points for each win. An amendmerit moved by Mr. Brown that the points allotted for wins by default should be only two was rejected. The secretary was instructed to write to the Waitara Club again and-inquire if the junior team interided to remain in the competition. Unless a reply was received this week it was decided that, qs no previous letters on the subject had been acknowledged, the Waitara juniors should be regarded as having Withdrawn. The chairman remarked on the fact tHdt Tramways had played the Watersidefs at the Tukapo ground during a recent No application for the use of the ground had been made, and in . view of the fact that regular players to pay. towards the upkeep of the wickets he felt the teams should be asked for a donation of Is a player. The secretary- was instructed to write a letter on these lines, explaining that the association depended for revenue upon the’ fees from players. A letter of thanks was received from the Victoria College University team which recently played two matches in Taranaki. TEAMS CHOSEN FOR TO-MORROW. -Cricket teams selected to play in patches to-morrow include:— Waitara:—Against New Plymouth at Waitara: Soffe, Beckbessinger, McKenzie, Priar, Telfar, Chittenden, O’Donnell, Grant, St. George, L.
